Alpine White 1986 Porsche 944 2.5L Lux 2+2 Great Condition & Long MOT For sale is my Dad’s 1986 Porsche 944. We bought this from its previous owner a few years ago as a Christmas present and have spent £1000’s of pounds getting the car mechanically sound. Unfortunately now due to the ease of getting in and out my Dad is now having trouble coping with the 944’s low riding position. As much as I’d love to take the car over, regrettably insurance companies still think I’m not old enough to drive it. In the 944’s 28 year life it has just reached 140,000 miles averaging only just 5000 miles a year, which is considerably low for annual mileage. From the last five years mot’s the mileage has gone from just 137,000 to the 140,000 just mentioned so it has had quite a relaxed lifestyle. Apart from mileage the car has had the following work done to it since we have owned it. Firstly and most importantly was a new clutch (this has had less than 600 miles use since fitted); we managed to find this out shortly after purchasing this from the last owner. After having to sit down, the clutch and slave cylinder along with a new speedo switch our car was ready again all done by a Porsche specialist mechanic. The mechanic also checked the following and was marked as all ok. Bear with me. Horn / wipers / washers / instruments / brake lights / indicators / reverse lights / fogs / headlights / brake fluid / coolant / engine oil / fan belt / camshaft belt / tyres / spare tyre / brake hoses / steering & suspension / drive shafts / front pipe / centre & rear silencer And breathe! The only advisories were that the battery was weak and the bonnet and boot strut dampers were weak all which have now since been fixed. Since its last service we’ve also had the timing belt and balance belt changed, a new thermostat, new tyres, radiator, water pump, welding on the chassis, cleaned and adjusted all the brakes and adjusted the headlamps. From looking at the pictures the body work is in overall great condition apart from the rust spot below the driver’s door. I personally think the white really makes the 944 stand out especially with the matching white radial wheels. The personalised plate is also included in the sale “IIG8 944” which I think easily reads “2 Great 944” The interior is clean and tidy with matching cream half leather and tan trim. There are also 4 seats which make this car perfect choice for just 2 people. (The two back seats being snug). As much as I’d love to say this is the perfect car unfortunately it has a couple issues that we had planned to fix this summer. The first being that the heating / cold air is intermittent – I have put this down to the air sensor in the cabin not functioning correctly and the second being that the electric windows do not work well. The passenger window opens slowly from the driver’s side and the driver’s side has now finally stopped. I think it could do with new motor. Other than a couple of age related blemishes and a crack in the dash my Dad and I love this car and have given us a few fun years of driving. The car is being sold with a long mot until October 2014 with no advisories and tax until the end of April 2014. Now coming up to summer I think it will put a smile on anybody’s face and certainly turns heads when driving down country roads or stuck in traffic. My Dad and I will certainly be happy knowing that our 944 will be going to a new caring owner.
